Story County  Transportation Collaboration

The Story County Transportation Collaboration includes representatives from groups and organizations that share an interest in reducing barriers to health and human service needs in the county. The group includes representatives from a number of organizations and groups involved with the Story County Quality of Life Alliance.

Mission / Purpose of the Transportation Collaboration is summarized below:
The Transportation Collaboration works to identify the transportation challenges individuals and families face daily and will work to develop the partnerships to help address the needs

Participating / Collaborating Organizations Linked with the Transportation Collaboration are below:
HIRTA, CyRide, RSVP, ACCESS, AMOS, United Way of Story County, Central Iowa Community Services, BooST (Early Childhood Iowa), The Salvation Army, Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Heartland Senior Services, Mid-Iowa Community Action, Story County

Key SCQOL goals targeted by the Transportation Collaboration are highlighted below:
  • Access to medical care
  • Educating general public & providers on transportation options – “Do you need a ride?” campaign
  • Input into the (CyRide’s) Passenger Transportation Plan
          – identify needs and gaps throughout Ames; include items outside of Ames as well
  • Addressing needs of specific populations
