Updates and Resource Limks

There are many organizations and groups in Story County positioned to serve needs for seniors. A group of ISU students worked with Liz Beck and Heartland Senior Services to identify and map resources. While there are many facilities available to senior citizens in the Ames community, many of the smaller communities in the county struggle to meet their needs. To help with this, the group created a survey to assess these needs with topics of health behaviors, critical care, socio-economic status, and physical environment.  They envisioned that these surveys could be distributed in Ames and among these smaller communities to get a realistic idea of the specific needs.  The group has also worked to create focus groups to better address specific areas of concern in relation to seniors such as; visually impaired services, dental services, and basic medical coverage insurance.
